The Members, Friends and Sponsors who support the Society are committed to encouraging and fostering the pursuit of excellence in all disciplines of the performing arts.
Our Society was established in 1954 and has presented an eisteddfod in Canberra annually since 1955 - 2007 sees the 53rd eisteddfod.
We organise low cost performance opportunities for individuals and groups to present their performances skills, in age and open categories, in one of the voice and/or instrument styles.
In recent years the annual eisteddfod has attracted in the order of 1500-2000 individual performers and an additional 2000-2500 members of groups - local and interstate - in 200 event categories for ages 6 years and under to open. We also organise concert and like events from time to time.
The Society is a not-for-profit community organisation with activities organised and presented - in artistic direction and administrative management (see 'Organisation' ) - almost completely through co-operative volunteer effort - supported in cash and kind by the generosity of many individuals and commercial enterprises (see 'Sponsors') .
We raise money through entry fees, audience admission charges, program sales, donations from individuals, grants and sponsorships from individuals and the corporate sector.
Cash donations can be recognised through the Society's status as a Registered Charity and Deductible Gift Recipient under the Australian Income Tax Assessment Act.
