Open Sections (Friday evening and Saturday afternoon): John Lingard Hall, Canberra Junior Grammar School, Alexander Street, Red Hill.

Special Notices

  1. Entry fees are to be submitted with the entry form. GST is NOT APPLICABLE to entry fees.
  2. A copy of the music must be provided and handed in at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the section entered.
  3. The title and composer of the selected piece must be written on the copy of the music.
  4. "Restricted" means that the section is open to those who have never won a first prize in any piano solo section in any previous Australian National Eisteddfod.
  5. Repeats are optional.
  6. Time limits must be observed. See General Rules and Conditions of Entry, Rule No.22.
  7. Please observe copyright laws as set out below.

Copyright

The Australian National Eisteddfod Society Inc. holds an Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) licence.

An entrant may supply the adjudicator with an unlicensed copy of the piece provided that (a) the original is used by the entrant for performance or held at the venue for inspection and (b) the Executive Committee or its delegate destroys the copy immediately after the adjudication.

Entrants must perform from original published editions of music, unless prior permission has been obtained from the copyright owner.

Numbering of sections

The first two digits indicate the upper age for that section. Open sections are indicated by "00".”.

Programmes

All entrants, sponsors and teachers who submit entries will receive a programme. Each entrant must pay for a programme as this is part of the cost of making an entry. It is not optional.
Programmes can also be downloaded from the website from the end of August 2008.
They may also be purchased at the door during the competition.

Prizes

Trophies will be awarded for First Prize and medals for Second and Third Prizes.  Sponsorship details are still to be arranged and will appear in full in the piano competition programme.

 


OPEN SECTIONS

Please note: To enter the Open Piano Recital, to be held on Saturday 27 September, competitors must enter and perform in one other Open solo section, to be held on Friday evening 26 September. All Open solo sections will be held at the John Lingard Hall, Canberra Junior Grammar School.

Open Piano Recital (Sat 27 Sept, midday)
Two contrasting works to be performed;
they may be from any periods.
Time limit – 20 minutes
First Prize: $1500
Second Prize: $500
Third Prize: $200

The Open solo sections P 002, P 003 and P 004 will be held on Friday evening, 26 September, beginning at 6:30pm, not necessarily in the order appearing here. If it seems that, because of the number of entrants, the evening will be too long, one of the sections will be moved to Saturday morning.
