Improvised Team Performances
Team of 4 players
Each team to play both games - a and b
5 member team to be nominated, one member to be a substitute. PG rating please. (no explicit sex, drugs or violence to be included in the performances)

Game a) Changing Scenes: Time 4 minutes
  • Each player enters the game one at a time and changes the scene.
  • Player number one starts improvising a scene from a given topic.
  • After 30 seconds a bell will indicate a freeze by the player. Then the next player enters and uses the focus of the first player to create a totally different scene in which the two players now improvise for a further 30 seconds.
  • This process will continue with the other two players however the fourth scene will last for 60 seconds. When all four players finish their scene, the bell will signify a total freeze. The fourth player will leave the group and the others must reverse the performance and go back through the scenes improvised previously, with each 30 second bell ordering players three and two to exit.
  • The backward scenes must follow on from where they were left.
Judging criteria:
  • Team work displayed - each team member to give equal opportunities to other team members.
  • Clarity of first line offers. Accepting rather than blocking offers.
  • Fluency and remembering previous scenes quickly.
Game b) Lost and Found in Translation: Time 4 minutes
  • In this game 2 players will improvise a scene together speaking in gibberish.
  • The other two players then translate each sentence into English.
  • Translator 1 to speak for improviser 1 etc.
  • After a 2 minute bell, players will stop and swap roles.
  • A new topic will be given and the game will continue for a further 2 minutes.
Judging criteria:
  • Team Work - expressive speaking.
  • The player using gibberish must allow time after each sentence for the translation, but they must not look at the translator.
  • The player translating must give equal amount of time and appropriate number of words to the translation from the gibberish.

First Prize: Perpetual Trophy, medals and $100 cash
