This website lists details of all other eisteddfodau in Australia. Teachers might find them useful for finding other performance and competing opportunities for their students.
The bands and orchestras competitions will be held from 27–30 May at llewellyn hall (ANU School of Music) and other venues. A wide range of sections are offered, for concert bands, jazz bands, brass bands, school bands, rock bands and orchestras. Each year the event attracts around 100 interstate and local groups. Apart from open age sections, all sections are not competitive, which helps to create a positive experience.
The syllabus is available online now.
For further information contact the convenor, Simon Best sbest@iinet.net.au 0403 827 303.
The choirs competitions will be held at Llewellyn Hall on 13 and 14 August and the syllabus is now on our website. Adjudicators are highly respected Choir Directors Dr Debra Shearer-Dirie and Anne Williams. A workshop is being planned for Sunday morning 15 August. More details will be given later.
The Committee is very excited about the event and hopes that many choirs will come to Canberra to compete against the local choirs.
Choir directors should feel free to contact the convenor, Dianne Anderson 02 6295 1213, or 0414 628 007 if they have any questions about the 2010 choirs eisteddfod.
In 2010 the singing competitions will be held from 6–11 September, which will be three weeks earlier than in previous years.
Our office staff member for 2010 is Mary Helen Davidson. She is currently in the office on Monday and Thursday mornings.
