Australian National Eisteddfod Competitions
The Australian National Eisteddfod invites entries in more than 200 age and level based sections - from 6 years and under to open, for solo and group performance and competition in voice and instrument. 2012 marks the 63rd Annual Eisteddfod. This year there are six competitions:
- Bands and Orchestras – concert, jazz, brass, rock and school bands and orchestras (most sections non-competitive) – 24-31 May 2012
- Choirs - including the Australian open choral championship – 10-11 Aug 2012
- Instrumental and Contemporary Music - including open chamber music – 17-19 Aug 2012
- Piano- including open piano recital – 28 Aug-2 Sep 2012
- Speech and Drama- including the Bard competition and Speech choirs - 3-6 Sep 2012
- Singing - including the National Operatic Aria competition – 10-15 Sep 2012

Bands and Orchestras
The 2012 Bands & Orchestras sections of the Australian National Eisteddfod will be
held from 24-31 May.
Includes 30 sections for all levels of concert bands, school bands, jazz bands, rock bands, brass bands and orchestras. Join around 3,000 individuals in 100 groups!
Adjudicators will be Lindsay Frost (most sections) and Greg Stott (Rock Bands). Lindsay was an active member of many Canberra community bands, and looks forward to returning to adjudicate next year’s Eisteddfod.

Choirs
The 2012 Choirs Eisteddfod will be held on 10 -11 August. The Choirs Committee is delighted that Paul Holley has agreed to Adjudicate at the event and Michael Griffin will join him for the Open and Championship Sections. The Syllabus is now on the website.

Piano
The piano division of the National Eisteddfod competition was held from 30 August to 3 September 2011. The results of the 2011 are now available
Congratulations to everyone involved. The competition was of a high standard and all those who attended were impressed with the talent and ability of all competitors.

Singing
The 2011 singing competition was held from 5 – 10 September. Approximately 130 singers entered and performed during the week, with many fine individual performances. The week culminated in the National Aria Final which was won by Sarah Ann Walker. Second place was taken by Emma Moore and third place went to John Longmuir. All singers are to be congratulated on their efforts.

The 2012 singing competition will be held in the Albert Hall from 10-15 September, and the syllabus will be available on the website in March.
Speech and Drama
